Crafted from two sections of solid oak, and connected using a third, in the form of a wedge (or chock), this side table embodies a harmonious blend of minimalist aesthetics and functional craftsmanship.

The top connects to the base, not at the centre, but slightly offset. This creates tension and plays with the viewers perception of balance. The base, refined using traditional Japanese hand planes, exhibits crisp facets that reflect the light tangentially.

Each wedge is shaped and fitted to each table individually. The end of the through tenon itself is sculpted initially using a gouge, before being refined with a curved cabinet scraper.
