Tapered Leg Table
-
Solid oak table with naturally-dyed recycled board top. The legs and undercarriage are hand-planed to a hexagonal shape. This is also mirrored on the table top edges.
A little bit on the construction method:
This table is constructed in the strongest way possible using hand-cut, mechanical joinery (no nails or screws). The underside of the table has three laterally positioned oak supports that are fixed to the recycled board top using a tapered sliding dovetail. The oak legs are then attached to these supports using mortice and tenon joinery. Tapered mortice and tenon struts keep everything solid as they pass through the legs before being further secured using contrasting ebonised oak wedges. The oak trims on the tabletop are tongue and grooved onto the top and secured further using ebonised oak splines. These methods ensure this table will last for generations.
Finished in a natural wax oil.
